Simon Saw wrote:

Hi, guys —

I have a question regarding minors.

Someone told me a priest can't have any conversations (including chatting by social media) with a minor after midnight.

  • Is that true?

  { Can a priest have conversations (including chatting by social media) with a minor past midnight? }

Eric replied:

Simon —

I've never heard such a thing. There is nothing in canon law forbidding a priest from speaking with a minor after midnight.

It would be a very bad idea to do so but I'm confident there is no universal proscription against it.

Perhaps there are some local laws regarding it.
